Jonasland is going to the polls again next Wednesday. The election will decide who will succeed Rory's government - the JRM or the SDP. Here's all you need to know.

The election is the third since the electoral reforms made a year ago, which saw the ballot split in two, creating a presidential and parliamentary vote. RoryRDMB, who was swept into power last election with the largest vote share in Jonasland history, will not seek a second term as president, but instead is hoping to become vice president.

The JRM's candidate for this election is instead former vice president TheAllSeeingBird, perhaps most well known as the founder of Bird Land, one of the regions within the Potato Empire, and the creator of RNN, a major news source across the server. If elected, he would be the third consecutive JRM member to be elected president, after TaylorWorld and RoryRDMB.

The SDP's candidate is JVTA, the first president of Jonasland. The SDP are running under the slogan of "Choose Jonasland". JVTA is seeking to win a fourth non-consecutive term as president; if successful, this would be their second election to the position.

A topic likely to come up this election is what will occur to the Unnamed Skyscraper, which has been left unfinished since 2022. Proposals have been made by McTwoPoint0 to have the tower be sold to his company, Intamin, to be used as a headquarters. The JRM has implied that it is debating the proposal, while the SDP has told the Tribune that it wants to redesign and reconstruct the tower before making any decisions on its ownership.

Other topics that could potentially come up include the environment, Jonasland's membership in the U.R.A., foreign relations, infrastructure, and further progress on the navy.

Voting opens tomorrow, and will be open to all citizens residing within Jonasland at that time. It closes on 16 October 2024. The new government will be inaugurated the next day.
