The government has confirmed that progress has been made on the Jonasland Metro - more three years after construction began.
Government sources confirmed the news at 1:01 pm NZDT on 28 February. A short statement, somewhat mimicking statements by U.S. president Donald Trump, was released by the president around the same time. The statement reads: "BREAKING NEWS - THERE HAS BEEN PROGRESS ON THE METRO FOR ONCE. THIS IS JUST ONE STEP IN OUR MOVE TO MAKE THIS NATION GREAT AGAIN! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! -PRESIDENT JVTA".
The actual metro is far from complete; a tunnel is yet to be dug out, rails are yet to be installed, and the roof needs more wood.
Story of the Metro
Plans for a metro in Jonasland have existed since 18 December 2022, when President JVTA confirmed plans for the construction of a metro system between Jonas City and Pavaria. Initial construction efforts began sometime after, before abruptly stalling as JVTA's focus turned to other projects.
The metro has since become somewhat of a running gag in Jonasland politics, with the New Democratic Party in particular (and its predecessors, the Jonasland Socialist Party and the original Social Democratic Party) campaigning on finishing the metro.
Until recently, the metro solely composed the entrance and a few parts of the wall. It is understood plans to follow a schematic for the metro, of which the existing block placements were based, have been abandoned.
