The full results of the January 2025 elections

After seven days of voting, the general elections of January 2025 have concluded. The results have been released by the Jonasland Electoral Commission, and we are now ready to present them.

Turnout was 87.5% (7 votes), up from the last election. Incumbent president TheAllSeeingBird sought re-election to another term.

ELECTORATE VOTE

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has won the electoral vote with 4 votes compared to the JRM's 3 votes.

When translated to seats, the results are as follows:

• Social Democratic Party (SDP) - 11 seats (+5) [MAJORITY]

• Jonasland Reformist Movement (JRM) - 9 seats (-5)

PRESIDENTIAL VOTE

The SDP's candidate for president, JVTA, has won the election with 7 votes, a unanimous result. Incumbent president TheAllSeeingBird of the JRM received no votes. JVTA is a former president; they previously held the position on three occasions (14 Nov 2022 - 16 Jan 2023; 20 Feb 2023 - 21 Feb 2023; 14 Oct 2023 - 31 Mar 2024).

JVTA will be inaugurated as president at 12:00pm NZDT tomorrow (25 January 2025).

IN SUMMARY

The results of the January 2025 election show a swing to the SDP in vote share. The SDP have been returned to power in their first electoral victory since October 2023. The JRM are now in the opposition after a lengthy victory streak. This will be the first time the JRM will not be part of the government.

JVTA is the next president. They will succeed TheAllSeeingBird at midday NZDT on 25 January 2025. The vice president and the rest of the cabinet are yet to be selected. The leader of the JRM will serve as leader of the opposition for the duration of this term.
