After seven days of voting, the general elections of May 2025 have concluded. The results have been released by the Jonasland Electoral Commission, and we are now ready to present them.

Turnout was 62.5% (5 votes), down from the last election. Incumbent president JVTA sought re-election to another term.

Electorate vote

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has won the electoral vote with 3 votes compared to the JRM's 2 votes.

When translated to seats, the results are as follows:

  • Social Democratic Party (SDP) - 12 seats (+1) [MAJORITY]

  • Jonasland Reformist Movement (JRM) - 8 seats (-1)

Presidential vote

The SDP's candidate for president, JVTA, has won the election with 4 votes, amounting to 80% of the vote. Incumbent president TheAllSeeingBird of the JRM received 1 vote. JVTA is the incumbent president; their win at this election makes them the first person since TaylorWorld in 2023 to win a consecutive term in office.

JVTA will be inaugurated to their second term as president at 12:00pm NZDT tomorrow (5 May 2025).

In summary

The results of the May 2025 election show a slight drop in voter participation. In the presidential ballot, the vote share of the SDP fell slightly. In the legislative ballot, the opposite occurred.

JVTA will remain in office as president. It is expected that they will re-nominate their current cabinet. The JRM will remain as the official opposition, provided both they and the SDP do not make some kind of formal coalition.

This concludes our coverage of the May 2025 general elections. The next election is on the 12th of August, 2025, unless called prior.
