Four candidates running for server moderator following Rory's removal

The four candidates.

A new moderator election is being held following Rory's firing some three days ago. Four candidates are running in this election, the same number as last time. Whom the server will select is up in the air; the ballot is open from now until the 12th unless specified otherwise.

PMI understands that BasilGaming, Imustbemad, Dukewaffles, and JVTA are running for election. Here's what each candidate wants to do, as well as other things about them.

BasilGaming

Basil, a former server host, was one of the first to officially announce their intentions to run for moderator. Basil is primarily running on a platform of reforming the moderation system.

Part of his manifesto includes creating a new five-member cabinet for advising him or any future moderators on decisions and creating an "outlet for developing unbiased opinions", in his words. His ultimate goal is to create "security and trust within the moderation system".

Basil has indicated he will unban SandwichPress, Clamlum, and LEAN LOVER. EPCNZ is not mentioned in his manifesto.

Dukewaffles

Unlike the other candidates, Dukewaffles (also known as Wyatt) does not think the moderation system should be reformed, but things instead need to be cleared up to prevent future disputes.

He has also said he would unban SandwichPress, Clamlum, and LEAN LOVER, though they would receive a warning or a ban if they "slip up once". Dukewaffles has also said they are in favour of either unbanning EPCNZ for the Supremacy War or otherwise lowering their ban. EPCNZ is currently due to be unbanned on 15 October.

Dukewaffles disagrees with the notion that Rory did anything wrong as moderator.

Imustbemad

Imustbemad's manifesto begins by outlining his belief that previous moderators have stalled and become indecisive during their tenures.

Imustbemad stated in his manifesto that he would be open to talk at "more reasonable hours" than Taylor and Rory. He also stated that he would re-open all ban appeals that Rory enacted in the past, meaning SandwichPress, Clamlum, LEAN LOVER, and, though for the duration of the war, EPCNZ, would all be unbanned. He has no intention of altering the war rules.

Imustbemad believes that RoryRDMB was a biased moderator. One of the examples he cited was Rory's refusal to act on widespread approval of unbanning SandwichPress, Clamlum, and LEAN LOVER. (A survey had been held on the topic, however Rory did indicate in the survey that the results may not be acted upon as it wasn't an appeal.)

JVTA

JVTA is no stranger to moderator elections, having participated in every single one thus far (bar the one that elected Sasha back in June 2022).

Their platform for this election is a major overhaul of the moderation system, including more detailed rules and clearer punishments. They did not state in their manifesto whether they would unban any of the people Rory had banned, though they have indicated their support of the idea outside of their manifesto.

Although in approval of some of Rory's decisions as moderator, their opinion towards him has since soured, especially in regards to Dumb_Catz's ban as well as his overall reaction to opposition towards his decisions.

Overall, the four moderators are largely running on campaigns of at least reforming the rules. All four candidates are in favour of players banned under Rory having their bans revoked, or otherwise reviewed. The candidates are divided on whether Rory was a biased moderator.

The moderation election ends on 12 August, unless all server members vote before then.
