Jonasland's ruling party, the Social Democratic Party, has split in two in order to comply with the nation's electoral laws.

The law in question, nicknamed "Rory's Law" by JVTA, requires two parties to be active in Jonasland by election time. If there is only one party, then it is required to be split. The SDP has been the sole party in Jonasland since the deregistration of the Jonasland Reformist Movement (JRM) in May of 2025.

The two new parties will be run by the original SDP's two remaining members, JVTA and Revden. JVTA's side has rebranded as the New Democratic Party (NDP), in reference to the Canadian political party of the same name. Revden's side has not yet rebranded, and PMI is not aware if they intend to do so.

"It is our job to respect the already existing laws of Jonasland," JVTA told PMI when asked about this recent move. "We must ensure that the ways we do things are respected and maintained. It doesn't matter if we're the only people around, or if the government isn't doing anything. Jonasland's law is Jonasland's law."

Jonasland will go to the polls on 12 August.
