MikeCube has officially resigned as president of Jonasland.
The shock announcement came today at 6:36pm. In a statement, MikeCube said: "It has been... I don't know how to put this... interesting being president of Jonasland (although not much actually happened) and although I am no-longer with Jonasland I wish Jonasland the best."
JVTA, the former president, claimed to have taken up the helm as Jonasland's acting president. In a separate announcement, Jonas called for "calm during this time". They also wished MikeCube well, adding "We are open to supporting and assisting our ally and fellow URA member state Name Pending, whom MikeCube also runs, in any way possible."
Name Pending had previously been constructing a canal between the oceans to allow Jonasland a way to get it's navy to Jonasland from Carrot. It is likely this will still go ahead.
JVTA's reign is already disputed. Revden, leader of The Left, a political party within Jonasland, said "No no no. You have to elect someone. You can't just randomly pick yourself to be president." TaylorWorld, king of the Potato Empire, said "How come the JSP made the decision for you to be the acting president if they have the same amount of seats as the other parties. Shouldn't it be a vote of all the parties that have power?" Taylor continued, "It still has to go ahead otherwise there is no democracy in Jonasland. Unless a vote happens, the only person who has the power to make someone the acting president is Michael."
The election on March 6th, 2023, will still go ahead. It is possible that a lot of policies JVTA had proposed will also continue. The gates at the portal, which had been removed MikeCube for being "too annoying", despite JVTA's protests, are most likely to make a comeback.
