Yesterday, the Potato Empire inaugurated the PNV Jackson F. Jaxolord, also known as just the Jaxolord.
Built by prime minister RoryRDMB, and named for King Jackson I (the first Potato King), the Jaxolord is not only the largest naval vessel in Potato overall, but also the first to sail as a part of the Greater Potato Navy; both Thailand and Bird Land maintain separate fleets.
It was inaugurated last night around 7:30pm NZDT (1:30am ET) in a simple ceremony that took place near the Potato Temple. TaylorWorld had the honours of smashing a splash potion against the ship's hull. Rory, as well as JVTA and SpecShark, were also in attendance.
The vessel first began construction in April of 2023. Its construction was interrupted by the Second Great Realmplex War, as well as a change of government. The vessel was finally completed on December 30th, 2023.
The location of the ship was chosen for symbolic reasons; the Temple had originally been designed by Jaxolord. The ship has no interior as of yet, but this is set to be completed sometime in the near future. The ship's size makes it unable to fit under the Potato Bridge.
In a statement made to PMI, Rory said, "I am elated that Potato finally has it’s first capital ship launched. I have plans for the Potato Navy to launch more ships in the near future, as we have schematics ready for several designs."
Taylor also commented on the ship. "Built and launched right outside the Potato Temple, a monument originally designed by my predecessor King Jackson I. This boat is meant as a memento to him, to Jaxolord, hence the name. Special thanks to Rory for helping make this happen, we couldn't have done it without you. There are some small tweaks that I want to make to the ship but for the most part, it's perfect. "
There are plans for the construction of further vessels, including the "Spearhead" class of destroyers. This fleet will consist of three ships.
