Result of the October 2024 Thailand election

Writer: Jonas AlbertJonas Albert

Welcome to PMI's coverage of the Thailand re-vote that followed the October 2024 election in the Potato Empire. The voting period for the re-vote lasted two days. Four candidates contested the re-vote, including both candidates that participated in the original vote.

A total of eight votes were received.

ToblroneNZ of the UCP has won the seat of Thailand, beating incumbent candidate McTwoPoint0 of the Action Party. Both candidates ended up with four votes at the end of the election, leading to a tiebreak where the candidate with the most second-preference votes was the victor. Toblrone received four second-preference votes, while McTwoPoint0 received two.

JVTA of the Potato Democrats came third with two votes. EPCNZ came fourth with no votes.

This gain by the UCP means that the Potato Democrats and the UCP are now tied for seats with three each. Action, the UCP's coalition partner, no longer has a seat in the Potato Council. A coalition deal between the two parties will most likely need to occur if they want to form a government without what could potentially be another vote. It is not clear who will be prime minister.

The next election is expected to occur at some point within the next few months. Follow PMI for all the political news as it happens.
